Established in 1926, Sopotnick's Cabbage Patch at 549 County Road 415 in Samsula is widely recognized as the oldest active biker bar in the Daytona Beach area. The sprawling rural roadhouse sits six miles west of New Smyrna Beach in the Tomoka Farms flatwoods and draws thousands of riders during Bike Week and Biketoberfest. Famous for coleslaw wrestling, live country and rock bands, cold beer served out of galvanized tubs, and a laid-back atmosphere that feels like a permanent cookout. Mailing address uses New Smyrna Beach but the physical location is in unincorporated Samsula.

Sopotnick's Cabbage Patch has been operating since 1926, which makes it a genuine institution rather than a place trying to seem like one. The name traces back to the surrounding farmland — the story passed down by the current owner's family holds that a bad growing season left fields of unharvested cabbage to rot, and passing bikers could smell it long before they spotted the bar. That agricultural oddity became the identity of the place, and it stuck for a century.

The setup is straightforward flatwoods Florida: a sprawling outdoor lot where you ride in and park among the crowd, open-air stages for live bands, and cold drinks. Coleslaw wrestling is the signature event — it runs during both Bike Week in the spring and Biketoberfest in the fall, and draws a serious turnout. The rest of the year the place stays active with regular events, including a free BBQ on the third Sunday of each month that the bar runs as a thank-you to regulars. Camping is available on the property for those who want to stay close.

Expect a crowd and plan around it during the big rallies — the lot fills fast and the lines to get in and out reflect that. The indoor area is small and open-air, so summer heat is a real factor. Off-rally, the pace is slower and the vibe is closer to a genuine local bar than a spectacle.

Bahia Honda State Park at 36850 Overseas Highway (MM 37, Big Pine Key) contains the remnant of Henry Flagler's 1912 Overseas Railroad bridge — a 5,055-foot structure that was hailed as an engineering marvel of the Western Hemisphere. A trail leads from the park up onto the elevated deck of the old bridge, providing a panoramic 360-degree view of the Atlantic Ocean, the Gulf of Mexico, and the chain of keys stretching in both directions. The park also has three distinct beaches rated among the best in Florida. Entry fee is required ($8 per vehicle). The old bridge reopened for pedestrian and cyclist access following restoration work.

A 220-mile loop from Tallahassee along the Gulf Coast through Florida's largely undiscovered Big Bend region, where the state's northern coast curves westward. The primary motorcycle segment follows US-98 from Apalachicola east through Carabelle, Panacea, and Wakulla County — roughly 40 miles where the highway hugs the coastline closely with open Gulf views and light traffic. The loop also includes a forest trail section on SR-20 through the 632,000-acre Apalachicola National Forest. The Apalachicola estuary produces 90% of Florida's oysters. Known locally as Florida's Forgotten Coast for its absence of high-rise development.
