Sugarloaf Mountain Loop (CR-561 / CR-455)
A 45-mile loop through the lake-dotted hills of Lake County connecting CR-561, CR-455, and CR-448, passing Sugarloaf Mountain — at 312 feet, the highest point in peninsular Florida. The route is the closest thing to genuine hill riding in the Florida peninsula: real inclines, tight corners, and elevated views over Lake Apopka from the summit area near Howey-in-the-Hills. Citrus groves and horse farms line CR-561 on the western side of Lake Apopka. The loop typically starts near Clermont (US-27 / Florida Citrus Tower) and ends in Winter Garden. Popular with sport bike and road bike riders on weekends; weekdays offer lighter traffic.
