KY-80 Southern Kentucky Corridor
Kentucky Route 80 is the state's longest highway at 483 miles, running the full width of southern Kentucky from the Mississippi River at Columbus to the Virginia state line near Elkhorn City. The western section through the Land Between the Lakes runs concurrent with US-68 and is part of the Kentucky Scenic Byways system. The recommended motorcycle segment runs roughly 100 miles from Somerset east through Hazard and into the mountains toward Breaks Interstate Park — sweeping turns, small hills, light traffic (most through traffic uses the Cumberland Expressway), and a mix of farmland, forest, and river bottomland. The eastern terminus near Elkhorn City delivers riders to the doorstep of Breaks Interstate Park, one of the most dramatic canyon viewpoints east of the Rockies.
