Pinnacle Overlook — Cumberland Gap
The Pinnacle Overlook sits at 2,440 feet inside Cumberland Gap National Historical Park, reached by a 3.7-mile two-lane climb up Pinnacle Road (also labeled Skyland Road). The viewing platform straddles the Kentucky–Virginia line and delivers a 180-degree panorama across the Cumberland Gap, with Kentucky, Virginia, and Tennessee visible simultaneously on clear days. The NPS road has switchbacks tight enough to reward careful riders; a large level parking lot waits at the top. The overlook is free with park admission and is managed by the National Park Service.
A switchback climb with the payoff of a three-state panorama — one of the best view-for-effort ratios in the Appalachians. The NPS road is well-maintained, the lot is bike-friendly, and the historical significance of Daniel Boone's passage through the Gap adds weight to the stop.
