U.S. 23 Country Music Highway Museum

The U.S. 23 Country Music Highway Museum in Paintsville celebrates the remarkable concentration of country music legends born along this corridor of eastern Kentucky — Loretta Lynn, The Judds, Billy Ray Cyrus, Ricky Skaggs, Dwight Yoakam, Keith Whitley, Patty Loveless, and more. Exhibits feature personal memorabilia, instruments, handwritten lyrics, and career retrospectives. Opened in 2005, the museum anchors the 144-mile Country Music Highway National Scenic Byway that follows US-23 through Lawrence, Johnson, and Floyd Counties — a natural motorcycle touring spine through the heart of Appalachia.

US-23 is one of the most scenic corridor rides in eastern Kentucky — the museum is a natural midpoint rest stop with air conditioning, restrooms, and genuine Appalachian music history. Loretta Lynn's Butcher Holler birthplace is just a few miles off-route for fans.
