Mohawk Trail (MA-2)
A 63-mile east-west corridor on Route 2 from the New York state line to Millers Falls, widely recognized as one of New England's great motorcycle roads. The 35-mile western section between North Adams and Greenfield is the highlight: the road climbs out of North Adams through dense Berkshire hardwood forest, crests the high ridge above the famous Hairpin Turn at 1,700 feet, then descends along the Deerfield River through Charlemont and Shelburne Falls. Designated one of the nation's first scenic highways in 1914. Traffic is manageable except on fall foliage weekends.
