Ha Ha Tonka Castle Ruins
Ha Ha Tonka State Park preserves the stone ruins of a turn-of-the-century castle-style mansion built by Kansas City businessman Robert Snyder Sr., perched dramatically on a 250-foot bluff above Ha Ha Tonka Spring and the Niangua arm of the Lake of the Ozarks. The mansion burned in 1942 and was never rebuilt. The park (1491 State Road D, Camdenton) covers 3,751 acres with sinkholes, caves, a natural bridge, and Missouri's 12th-largest spring. The castle ruins overlook is a 0.5-mile walk from the parking area and offers sweeping views of the lake's coves below.
A visually arresting stop in the Lake of the Ozarks region — crumbling stone towers on a lake-view bluff that look lifted from a European countryside. Easily paired with a loop around the lake. The twisting approach roads through Camden County add to the appeal, and the state park charges no entry fee.
