Missouri 34 — Current River Hill Country
Missouri Route 34 covers 88 miles of southeastern Ozark hill country from Van Buren on the Current River east to Jackson, passing through Carter, Reynolds, Wayne, and Bollinger counties with steady curves and rolling terrain throughout. The western end near Van Buren connects directly with the MO-103/Big Spring corridor and the Ozark National Scenic Riverways, making it a natural extension of southeastern Missouri Ozark loops. Near Ellington the road intersects MO-21, and east of Piedmont it approaches Sam A. Baker State Park via MO-143. The route is one of Missouri's original 1922 highways, traversing sparsely populated Ozark backcountry with minimal commercial traffic.
