NJ-23 to High Point
The northern ~25-mile stretch of NJ Route 23 from Hamburg north through High Point State Park to the New York state line near Montague. The road climbs through the Kittatinny Mountains, crosses the Appalachian Trail ridge, and descends through densely forested terrain to NJ's highest point at 1,804 ft. The ascent and descent offer winding sections with mountain-road character uncommon for New Jersey. Total route length is 52.63 miles (Verona to NY line); the High Point segment is the scenic payoff.
