A 60-foot waterfall cascading down a sheer limestone cliff directly beside US-14A (Spearfish Canyon Scenic Byway), roughly 5.8 miles south of the canyon's north entrance. A paved crosswalk leads to a wooden viewing platform on the opposite bank — one of the easiest waterfall stops in the Black Hills, with roadside parking on the shoulders.

A mountain-carving monument under construction on privately held land in the Black Hills, honoring the Oglala Lakota warrior Crazy Horse. The entrance is on US-16/385 about 4 miles north of Custer, SD. When finished the sculpture is planned to reach 641 feet long and 563 feet high; the visitor campus holds a welcome center, restaurant, theaters, and the Indian Museum of North America.

Custer State Park Wildlife Loop Road

Custer State Park's Wildlife Loop Road is an ~18-mile paved road through the open grasslands and ponderosa-pine foothills of the park's southern half in South Dakota's Black Hills. It is best known for close encounters with the park's free-roaming bison — one of the largest publicly owned herds in the country — along with pronghorn, deer, prairie dogs, and the park's famous "begging burros" (feral donkeys). The road links US-16A near the State Game Lodge with SD-87 as part of the Peter Norbeck National Scenic Byway. Ride early or late for the best wildlife activity, keep well back from the bison, and expect the herd or burros to stop traffic without warning.
