Bald Mountain Pass Overlook — Mirror Lake Hwy

Sitting at 10,715 feet, Bald Mountain Pass is the highest point on UT-150 and the highest elevation reached by any paved road in Utah. The pull-off sits roughly 30 miles from Kamas, so by the time you arrive you've already climbed through the full arc of the route — the views south look back over the road you just rode, while the northeast opens toward Hayden Peak and the broader High Uintas Wilderness. Picnic tables and a vault toilet are on site, and the parking area also serves as the trailhead for the hike up Bald Mountain itself.

The seasonal window matters here. The highway closes when snow makes plowing impossible and typically reopens around Memorial Day weekend, though snowpack can push that later — patches of snow on the upper slopes sometimes persist well into July. Cell service is unreliable along the corridor, so check road conditions before you leave Kamas. Afternoon thunderstorms build frequently in summer, which is worth knowing if you're considering the short but exposed trail that begins right at the pass.
