Libby Flats Observation Site
The highest point on Wyoming Highway 130 (Snowy Range Scenic Byway) at 10,665 ft in Medicine Bow National Forest. A short walk from the parking area reaches the stone observation tower, which offers 360-degree views spanning Rocky Mountain National Park to the south, Medicine Bow Peak and Sierra Madre to the west, and the Laramie Mountains to the east. Open May through October.
WY-130 climbs out of Centennial and sheds its trees well before reaching the top, so by the time you pull into the Libby Flats parking area you're already on open, wind-scoured tundra at 10,665 ft — the highest point on the Snowy Range Scenic Byway. A short paved walk from the lot brings you to a stone observation tower that puts the full panorama in front of you: Rocky Mountain National Park to the south, Medicine Bow Peak and the Sierra Madre Mountains to the west, and the Laramie Mountains stretching out to the east.
Wind is the one constant up here, and it can be fierce — plan layers even in summer. The site sits within Medicine Bow National Forest and is open from May through October, though the pass can hold snow well into early June. Restrooms are available at the parking area. The day-use fee is $5 per vehicle.
