Medicine Wheel National Historic Landmark
A 74-foot diameter stone wheel with 28 spokes atop Medicine Mountain at 9,642 ft in the Bighorn National Forest, near US-14A. Estimated to be over 800 years old, the wheel is one of the best-preserved Native American ceremonial sites in North America and a National Historic Landmark. Access requires a 1.5-mile hike from the parking area on Forest Road 12.
A uniquely compelling off-bike detour on the US-14A Medicine Wheel Passage — the 3-mile gravel spur to the trailhead is passable on most adventure bikes, and the hike rewards with one of Wyoming's most profound cultural sites and sweeping Bighorn views at nearly 10,000 ft.
