Overseas Highway (US-1) — Florida Keys

The 113-mile Overseas Highway runs from Key Largo to Key West along US-1, island-hopping across 42 bridges over the open ocean. Designated an All-American Road in 2009 — one of only 31 in the country — it follows the former right-of-way of Henry Flagler's Overseas Railroad, destroyed in the 1935 Labor Day Hurricane. The centerpiece is the 6.79-mile Seven Mile Bridge between Marathon and Little Duck Key. Riders have the Atlantic Ocean on the left and the Gulf of Mexico on the right for much of the route. Winds can be significant on the exposed bridges; lane widths are generous but traffic is heavy in winter tourist season.
