Western Vistas Historic Byway (US-83)
The Western Vistas Historic Byway runs about 99 miles across the shortgrass prairie of far western Kansas, following US-40 and US-83 between Sharon Springs and Scott City. It links some of the state's most striking landforms — the Monument Rocks chalk pillars, Castle Rock, and the Little Jerusalem Badlands — across big-sky high plains with long, uncrowded straights and gentle grades. A destination ride for riders who want space, fossils-and-chalk geology, and horizon-wide scenery rather than tight corners.
