Tombigbee National Forest Corridor (MS-25 North)

The northern 80-or-so miles of MS-25 — from roughly the Tombigbee National Forest in Winston County through Oktibbeha, Monroe, Itawamba, and into Tishomingo County at the Tennessee line — offer a distinctly different character from the flat southern stretches. In Winston County the highway passes through Tombigbee National Forest, skirts Choctaw Lake and Bluff Lake, and then the road becomes progressively windier as it enters the rolling hills and ridges of the Appalachian foothills near Iuka and Tishomingo. The full highway is 260 miles from Jackson but the northern segment is the scenic payoff.
