Montana Highway 1 — the Pintler Veterans Memorial Scenic Highway — runs along the northern shore of Georgetown Lake, and the overlook pull-out puts the whole scene in front of you at once: open water, the Anaconda Range rising from the lake's southern edge, and very little company. The route linking Anaconda and Drummond runs 64 miles, and this is its high-water mark in every sense.
The lake itself is a reservoir, impounded on the North Fork of Flint Creek, sitting at just over 6,300 feet. That elevation means the Anaconda Range peaks to the south carry snow well into the riding season, so the backdrop changes considerably from a late-spring run to a mid-summer one. Traffic on MT-1 stays light compared to I-90, and the pull-out requires no hiking or commitment — park, take it in, and roll on toward either Anaconda or Drummond.
