Lake Wateree Loop (SC-97 / River Road)
A 38-mile loop northeast of Columbia that traces the shoreline of Lake Wateree using SC-97 (Liberty Hill Road) and State Road S-20-101 (River Road). The ride begins in Camden, heads north on SC-97 through lightly traveled rural countryside, then transitions onto River Road, which skirts the wooded eastern shoreline of Lake Wateree with rolling hills, gentle curves, and periodic lake views. The loop continues south on Longtown Road through open stretches and cove glimpses before returning to Camden. Traffic is minimal throughout; the terrain is Piedmont flatland with enough gentle curves to keep a cruiser or touring bike engaged. A practical half-day loop from Columbia or a natural add-on from a Myrtle Beach or Upstate run.
