SC-130 — Lake Keowee to Whitewater Falls
SC-130 runs 30 miles through Oconee County, beginning near Seneca and traveling north along the eastern edge of Lake Keowee before terminating at the North Carolina state line near the Whitewater Falls recreation area. Where it crosses into NC it becomes NC-281, which leads to Upper Whitewater Falls — at 411 feet, the tallest cascade east of the Rocky Mountains. The road is a two-lane paved byway and part of the South Carolina Heritage Corridor Discovery Route. It passes through the communities of Newry and Salem and skirts the scenic western shoreline of Lake Jocassee as it nears the border. Light traffic and consistent mountain scenery make it a favorite pairing with SC-107 or SC-11 on a Upstate loop.
