Jay Peak Road — VT-242

Vermont Route 242 runs 12.8 miles through the Green Mountains from Montgomery (VT-118) east to Troy (VT-101), passing directly by Jay Peak — Vermont's northernmost major ski mountain, known for the highest average snowfall in the eastern US. The road climbs through dense boreal forest typical of the far north, reaches its high point near the Jay Peak ski area access road, then descends into the Missisquoi River valley at Troy. Traffic is light year-round outside ski season. The route is a natural extension of a Northeast Kingdom loop combining VT-5A (Lake Willoughby), US-5, and VT-118 through the Montgomery covered bridge village.
