WV-39 Gauley Mountain
WV-39 runs 106 miles east-west across Fayette, Nicholas, Greenbrier, and Pocahontas counties, climbing over Gauley Mountain from Gauley Bridge (junction with US-60) through Summersville and Marlinton to the Virginia state line near Minnehaha Springs. The road traverses deep Monongahela National Forest, crosses multiple Appalachian ridges with sustained elevation changes, and passes near the Cranberry Wilderness. The western terminus at Gauley Bridge puts riders immediately adjacent to Hawks Nest State Park and the New River Gorge.
