Now in its 34th year, it draws riders to compete — not just spectate — in a structured motorcycle rodeo on Saturday afternoon.
The weekend has a clear rhythm. Friday night opens with a live music and bonfire kick-start party at the campground. Saturday brings an escorted bike parade through downtown Mackay, followed by the main rodeo competition at 1 pm. Rodeo events include slow races, keg push, barrel race, and dirt drags, with cash prizes for the top three finishers. Saturday night features a kids' rodeo in the campground. Sunday is open for riding the surrounding mountain roads and historic sites at your own pace.
Admission is $15 for the full weekend, with kids 12 and under free. Free camping is available at Mackay Tourist Park, which IMRA reserves for the event. Food and specialty vendors are on site.
