Oak Alley Plantation
Antebellum plantation on the Great River Road (LA-18) west bank of the Mississippi, famous for its quarter-mile canopy of 28 live oaks estimated to be 300 years old. A National Historic Landmark, the estate offers tours of the 1837 Greek Revival main house and a restaurant and inn on site. Anchors the plantation corridor between Baton Rouge and New Orleans on one of Louisiana's most scenic river-road stretches.
The Great River Road (LA-18 and LA-44) hugs the Mississippi levee past cane fields and plantation gates — Oak Alley is the visual payoff and a comfortable stop with proper parking.
