Built in 1929 as a private sportsman's club — with Babe Ruth and Jack Dempsey among its founding members — the lodge is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Its Great Hall features a 200-ton stone fireplace and vivid Cree-inspired painted murals covering every surface of the high-vaulted ceiling, considered one of the most unusual dining rooms in Minnesota. The restaurant serves locally sourced breakfasts and lunches in season. There is intentionally no Wi-Fi, cell service, or television on the property.
